Exclusive Sale Of Old Coins, Notes & Other Collectible Articles
Welcome back, fellow collectors! As we move through 2026, the Indian numismatic market is seeing a surge in interest for “Mule” coins and commemorative issues. Whether you have a Lotus 20 Paise or a Louis Braille commemorative, here is your up-to-date value guide.
The aluminum-bronze 20 paise coin remains a sentimental favorite. While many are common, specific mints are highly sought after.
Many collectors ask about the 1809–2009 Louis Braille coin. Note that “1809” is his birth year, not the minting year!
A “Mule” coin occurs when the front (obverse) and back (reverse) dies don’t match correctly.

Check your 1985 One Rupee. If there is a small ‘H’ under the ‘5’ in the date, it was minted in Heaton, UK. While interesting, it is quite common. The truly rare 1985 is the Hyderabad Star variety, which we’ve discussed in previous guides!
